Abstract

Fishing is an important commercial and leisure activity worldwide. Lack of awareness about the protective eyewear during fishing leads to serious accidental eye injuries with fish hook, especially among children. Here we report an eight-year-old boy who presented with a deeply embedded barbed fish hook injury to the eyelid. Ophthalmologists worldwide should be aware of the treatment options for this vision threatening occupational hazard. This case highlights one of the treatment modalities, the advance and cut method for removing barbed fish hook embedded in the eyelid.
