Abstract
Study design: Hospital based analytical observational study
Purpose: to observe for any correlation between degree of myopia and central corneal thickness
Methods: 80 patient(160 eyes) with myopia were graded into low(>0.5D to < 3D)), moderate(>-3D <6D) and high(>-6D) based on spherical equivalent and the central corneal thickness(CCT) was measured by anterior segment optical coherence tomography(AS-OCT)
Results: Males(42.5%), Females(57.5%). High myopes(15%), moderate myopia(36.3%), low myopia(48.8%). Low myopes had the highest mean central corneal thickness(527 microns) compared to moderate and high myopes.
Conclusion: significant negative correlation was observed between central corneal thickness and degree of myopia with P value of 0.031 proving that as the degree of myopia increases the central corneal thickness reduces.
