Abstract
INTRODUCTION: A Pterygium is a wing shaped growth of fibrovascular conjunctiva encroaching on to the cornea due to localized ultraviolet induced damage to the limbal stem cells. Indications: Reduced vision due to encroachment of the visual axis and irregular astigmatism. Chronic irritation and recurrent inflammation. Cosmetic. MATERIALS&METHODS: Prospective study conducted from january 2023 april 2023 in Ophthalmology department of Gayatri Vidya Parishad. 25 patients of 35 eyes are included in the study .Visual acuity recorded and Pterygium is assessed under slit lamp examination and graded. Surgical procedure: The conjunctiva over the fibrovascular tissue was resected and auto conjunctival flap was prepared as thin as possible .Then fibrovascular tissue under the flap is resected. Then the conjunctival flap rotated (nasal border towards limbus and limbal border towards nasal side)..RESULTS-60%cases were unilateral 42%were males and 52% were females. Recurrence rate is 5.7%
