Abstract
DESIGN-Prospective Cohort study.PURPOSE-To compare AR,Cycloplegic AR and Retinoscopy for Subjective Verification for spectacle acceptance,in Hypermetropic patients in OPD at,GREH,AMC.METHODS-70 eyes in 35 patients examined, selection done by convenience sampling.Values obtained by AR,Cycloplegic AR and Retinoscopy compared for subjective Verification.RESULTS: Comparing AR and Cycloplegic AR,variation of 1.06D±1.02 is seen.Comparing Cycloplegic AR and Retinoscopy, variation of 0.62D±1.10 is seen.Comparing Cycloplegic AR and Subjective Verification, variation of 0.78D±0.80 is seen.Comparing Retinoscopy with SR,variation of 0.44D±0.54 is seen.Values under cycloplegia(Cycloplegic AR & Retinoscopy),correspond better for the subsequent spectacle acceptance. This may be explained by the overuse of accommodation in hypermetropes which leads to poor acceptance without cycloplegic refraction.CONCLUSION:AR is an integral part of the OPD but,is not reliable in hypermetropes.
