Abstract

Study Design:Prospective observational study
Purpose:To evaluate post-op VA and symptomatic improvement in traumatic mydriasis resulting from blunt trauma after SFT pupilloplasty.
Methods:8 eyes of 8 consecutive patients with traumatic mydriasis were recruited from the OPD, Department of Ophthalmology, VIMSAR, Burla. Pre-operatively glare and photophobia, BCVA (Snellen's chart), IOP (NCT) and aqueous reaction were assessed. Follow-up was conducted 1 month after surgery. No funding.
Results:Out of the 8 patients, 6 (75%) showed improvement in BCVA(average 2/60 to 6/18). There was reduction in IOP and aqueous reaction, glare, photophobia. 2 patients faced complications: 1) secondary OAG due to traumatic anterior uveitis 2) CME
Conclusion:SFT pupilloplasty is an effective surgical intervention for improving VA and preventing secondary ACG in patients with traumatic mydriasis due to blunt trauma. Larger scale studies are warranted to validate these findings and assess long term outcomes.
