Abstract
Case Report:
We report a case of a 65 years old male with chief complains of sudden painful diminution of vision in his left eye for 1 week with visual acuity – hand movement appreciation with light perception with good projection of rays, 34 mmhg intraocular pressure, congestion, corneal oedema, pseudohypopyon & shallow AC with hypermature cataract indicating phacolytic glaucoma of the left eye which was managed with SICS with primary IOL implantation after intraocular pressure control resulted in a good visual outcome of BCVA-6/12 and 12 mmhg intraocular pressure.
Conclusions
This case indicates the importance of early diagnosis & management of visual impairment due to cataract and a need to spread awareness about the complications of lens induced glaucoma. In our case, sudden onset of severe pain leads the patient to seek early medical help and thereby, preventing any further damage of the optic nerve which results in good visual outcome.
