Abstract
Study design: Prospective study.
Purpose: To evaluate posterior segment pathology using B-scan ultrasonogram in patients with opaque media posted for cataract surgery.
Materials and Methods: The study is conducted in patients with dense cataract. B-scan ultrasound with a probe with direct contact is used. Various views of B-scan along with A-scan are taken. High gain and low gain sensitivity are selected and images documented.
Results: Most common abnormality observed is vitreous degenerations followed by posterior vitreous detachment, retinal detachment and others.
Conclusion: Ocular B-scan is a safe, non invasive technique used to detect various posterior segment pathologies.
