Abstract
Aim: To correlate the thickness of RNFL or ganglion cell on OCT to loss of retinal sensitivity Visual fields
Method and materials: Prospective study with sample size-60, who attended a tertiary eye care center on outpatient basis from October 2022 to June 2023. Glaucoma suspects and established cases of glaucoma were subjected to OCT GCA & RNFL and HFA to determine the relation between thickness of RNFL or ganglion cell on OCT to loss of retinal sensitivity.
Results: Patients with Ganglion cell-inner plexiform layer thickness more than 65 had less than 4db loss of retinal sensitivity. GCIPL of 60 to 45 showed loss of retinal sensitivity between 5db to 20db. Beyond GCIPL values of 40 the 30 db loss leading to absolute scotomas was observed.
Conclusion: Ganglion cell-inner plexiform layer thickness (GCIPL) along with visual fields in Glaucoma helps in early diagnosis, target IOP and progression analysis in cases of glaucoma.
