Abstract
STUDY DESIGN:A PROSPECTIVE STUDY
PURPOSE: To Evaluate Treatment Outcomes of Fungal Keratitis attending tertiary care eye center in North Coastal Andhra Pradesh
METHODS: Study included 42 patients with fungal keratitis who are 10% KOH positive. All patients treated with standard treatment protocols.Initially started with Medical management ,patients who failed to respond, underwent Therapeutic Penetrating Keratoplasty(TPK)
RESULTS: According to my study, With Medical Management -Scars seen in 59.52%(25cases).TPK performed in 40.46% (17cases). In Post TPK Patients clear grafts seen in 52%(9cases), failed grafts seen in 47% (8cases)
CONCLUSION: Even with Advanced treatment ,Treatment outcome in fungal keratitis is less than satisfactory. Causes are Late presentation , already on over the counter medications(steroid combination),inappropriate use of anti-fungal medication. Early presentation with timely intervention results in better visual outcome
