Abstract
STUDY DESIGN: Hospital based analytical observational study
PURPOSE: To establish whether the structural parameters such as retinal nerve fiber layer thickness provided by SD-OCT can be used to reflect the severity of functional damage in visual field test in POAG
METHODS: All 37patients (74 eyes) were examined during the period extending from august 2022 to june 2023. The eyes were classified in to mild, moderate and severe according to Hodapp, Parrish and Anderson classification. All patients underwent a complete ophthalmologic examination including Refraction, IOP measurement using GAT, Slit lamp biomicroscopy for anterior segment and fundus examination with +90 D lens, Gonioscopy, Humphrey 24-2 VF test and OCT
RESULTS: males(37.8%), females(62.2%), mean age was 50.9±5.7. Average RNFL for mild 92.9±1.6 was higher than moderate 80.3±4.5 and severe 55.6±10.8 POAG
CONCLUSION: A strong correlation was detected between visual field mean deviation and average RNFL thickness as r=0.92
