Abstract
Purpose: Identify factors predictive of recurrences among adults with MOG positive optic neuritis. Methods: We reviewed records of adult patients (>16 years) who were seropositive for MOG antibody seen at our institute and follow-up more than 3 months. Data was collected regarding demographics, clinical and neurological findings among patients with a recurrence (group A) vs. without recurrences (group B). Results: A total of 14 and 12 patients were identified in group A and B respectively. Median age of patients was comparable 38(IQR:39-48) years and 35 (IQR:24-48.8) years in groups A and B. There was no gender predilection. At presentation BCVA was 2.5 (IQR: 0.4-3) log MAR and 2.15 (IQR:0.2-3) log MAR in groups A and B respectively, (p= 0.70). Pain on eye movements was noted in 71.4% in group A vs. 58.3% in group B (p=0.49). There was no difference in fever, vomiting, neurological symptoms and brain lesions in either group. No predisposing factors were identified for recurrence.
