Abstract

STUDY DESIGN: Randomized controlled study
PURPOSE: To compare the refractive outcomes of SRK/T with BU-II formula which is a fourth-generation formula.
METHODS: 60 patients with age-related immature cataracts are randomized into two groups. All patients will undergo a complete ocular examination including BCVA, IOP measurement, slit lamp examination and fundoscopy. Biometry IOL power calculation by A-scan ultrasound by immersion method, ARK, IOL power calculations were performed using the Barrett Universal II and the SRK/T formulas. Chi square and z test were used to analyse the data
RESULT: There is significant difference in post operative BCVA, when IOL power is calculated using Barrett Universal II formula (p<0.05)
CONCLUSION: The Barrett Universal II formula provides a better predictability of IOL power calculation than the SRK/T formula.
