Abstract
PURPOSE: To study the prevalence of dry eye symptoms and signs in paediatric population with JIA. METHODS:Prospective case control study of 76 eyes of 38 patients (<18yr,M:F=1:2) with JIA presenting to a tertiary healthcare hospital OPD as a referral case for ophthalmic evaluation over 3 months(march 23-may23).History of eye symptoms through Dry Eye Questionnaire,h/o uveitis,h/o medications were taken.TBUT, Schirmer’s test were done. RESULT:There was a significant (p<0.05)association between JIA and dry eyes.The disease activity correlated with the symptoms of dry eye.Signs and symptoms were not proportionate. CONCLUSION:Dry eyes is remarkably prevalent in paediatric patients with JIA.Early diagnosis and treatment of the same will be helpful in curbing the dreadful complications in the future.
