Abstract
Design:Prospective, doubleblinded, randomized interventional study.Subjects & methods:60 eyes randomly allocated to 2groups(direct & oblique i/vit inj technique).IOP measured before &immediately after inj of 0.1ml of bevacizumab & dexa & then at 30min after inj. Occurence &amount of vitreous reflux recorded. BCVA & CMT assessed preinj & 6weeks postinj. Results:IOP increased significantly immediately after inj to 24.30±3.02(direct) &31.50±3.49(oblique).Iop rise differed significantly b/w both groups(mean difference:7.2,P <0.0001).30min after inj,no significant difference in IOP increase b/wgroups.Occurence & amount of fluid reflux were significantly higher with direct inj.No significant difference in BCVA & CMT outcome b/w bothgroups. Conclusions:Direct technique has lower rise in IOP & higher incidence of fluid reflux than oblique.Fluid reflux doesn't cause therapeutic compromise in BCVA or CMT changes,so reflux fluid must be vitreous not drug. Thus, direct technique seems to be preferred.
