Abstract
Purpose: The main aim of our study was to retrospectively analyse and compare the anatomical success rate and functional visual outcome of pars plana vitrectomy (PPV) with ILM (Internal Limiting Membrane) peel and without ILM peel for RD .Methods: 153 patients of RRD who had undergone Pars Plana Vitrectomy (PPV) with or without scleral buckling were included in the study. The anatomical and functional visual outcomes were analyzed between ILM and non-ILM peel groups. Results: Overall anatomical success was around 89.5%. Overall functional visual outcome was 85.4%. There was no statistical difference for anatomical success and functional visual outcome between ILM and non ILM peel groups. There was a significant difference in ERM formation between ILM and non-ILM group. Conclusion: There is significant reduction in formation of ERM post vitrectomy along with ILM peel, however there was no difference in anatomical and functional outcome if ILM peel done along with primary vitrectomy.
