Abstract

Study Design-Case Report Purpose-To highlight a case of ocular hypertension in child with ALL.Methods-A 9-year-old male came with fever and right eye swelling for 3 days. He was a known case of ALL on treatment with oral steroids. His best corrected vision was 6/6 in both eyes(BE). Anterior segment was normal in BEs except for mild periorbital edema in right eye. On AT, intraocular pressure(IOP) was 42 mmHg in right eye(RE) and 36 mmHg in left eye(LE). Gonioscopy showed open angles in BEs. Fundoscopy and OCT-RNFL were normal in BEs. He was diagnosed as steroid induced ocular hypertension in BEs and was started on both topical and oral anti-glaucoma medications(AGMs). IOP was 14 mmHg in RE and 12 mmHg in LE after 2 weeks of treatment. He came after a month of discontinuation of AGMs but still on oral steroids. He was asymptomatic but his IOP was 28 mm Hg in RE and 26 mmHg in LE. Parents were counselled about the disease and the need to restart AGMs.Regular follow up was also emphasized.
