Abstract
Aim: To evaluate the efficiency of retropupillary iris-claw intraocular lens implantation in managing intraoperative cataract surgery complications
Methods: Prospective cross-sectional study during 2022-2023
Results: 50 patients were included with a mean age of 66±8. Preoperatively 64% had Best Corrected Visual Acuity (BCVA) less than counting fingers at 3 meters; mean intraocular pressure (IOP) was 13.5±5mmHg.13% had Pseudo-exfoliation; 6% had Phacodonesis. Intraoperatively 64% PC rent,18% zonular dehiscence, and 56% vitreous prolapse into the anterior chamber (AC) were noted. Postoperatively 72% had BCVA greater than 6/12. 23% Descemet membrane folds,12% stromal edema, and 11% high IOP was observed and medically managed.16% had pupil alterations. Patients were followed up after a month. No IOL dislocation was seen
Conclusion: Retropupillary Iris-claw IOL implantation is a safe and effective alternative method with the least complications and early good postoperative visual outcomes.
