Abstract
STUDY DESIGN-INTERVENTIONAL
PURPOSE-To compare the efficacy of retreatment with Bowman’s membrane lenticule tuck-in in cases of corneal perforation previously treated with Cyanoacrylate Glue with BCL.METHODS-In this study,10 eyes of 10 patients of corneal perforation(of any etiology) previously treated with cyanoacrylate glue with BCL(elsewhere)were included. After enrolment, ophthalmological examination, systemic, and complete clinical examination was done .The Donor corneal tissues (only therapeutic grade) were procured from a certified state eye bank for harvesting the Bowman’s membrane during surgery.RESULTS:During 6-month follow-up, best-corrected visual acuity improved from PL+PR accurate to mean BCVA of 6/20 (Pvalue <0.0005) and epithelialization was completed within a mean 4.4 weeks.CONCLUSION-Bowman membrane tuck-in is an effective suture less and glue less technique for management of corneal perforation, which may be used in emergency settings.
