Abstract
Orthoptek treatment was tried in 45 patients with strabismic and anisometropic amblyopias. 45 patients in the age group of 5 – 55 were selected for treatment, after thorough examination and confirmation of diagnosis. Patients with other causes of poor vision were excluded from the study. Initial examination included, best corrected vision, stereopsis, type refractive error, and BSV for distance with WFDT was recorded prior to starting orthoptek treatment and patients were asked to copy a sentence and orthoptek treatment was given for 12 consecutive days. Everyday vision , stereopsis, BSV with WFDT recorded in excel sheet. At the end of 12 sessions of treatment the results were statistically analyzed.
Significant improvement in vision sstereopsis and BSV was noticed in all the patients at the end of 12 days. Stereopsis improved in 5 days and vision needed longer time to improve. Subjectively patients felt they could see better from day 2 and noticed improved handwriting
