Abstract
Prospective study done among younger age group in tertiary care hospital with consents taken from their parents.
Purpose-To study the prevalence and its risk factors of VKC among children from 5 to 12 yrs of age group.
Method-Clinical evaluation in patients with median follow up of 6 months.
Results-The prevalence of VKC among the studied children highest in the age group of 5 to 8 yrs with male predominance.Exposure to dust and associated allergic conditions were the major risk factors with majority of cases seen in summer season.Itching and burning sensation were the most prominent symptoms,whereas hyperemia was the most prominent sign.
Conclusion- VKC is fairly common among children of 5 to 12 yrs of age group in eastern odisha region.Exposure to dust and associated allergic conditions were the major risk factors.
