Abstract

PURPOSE-Reporting the successful outcome of a case of congenital MED syndrome with partial knapp procedure.
METHOD-A 5 year old girl presented to the department of strabismus with complaints of drooping of right eye upper lid since birth. Associated with inward and downward deviation of RE. The BCVA in the RE is 6/18 and in the LE it is 6/6. On examination- Drooping of RE UL was noted and other anterior segment findings and fundus were with in the normal limit. CHP- Chin elevation, ocular symmetry lost due to drooping of RE UL, HCRT- 5° esotropia and 20° hypotropia in RE for near and 30° hypotropia for far in RE, PBCT showed 40 PD baseup. EOM- direct elevation, levoelevation and dextroelevation were limited in RE.
RESULT-Patient was diagnosed with congenital MED syndrome and was taken for strabismus correction under GA by partial knapp procedure with 6mm IR recession and transposition of LR muscle to SR muscle done.
CONCLUSION-Good surgical outcome with partial knapp was reported.
