Abstract
PURPOSE OF THE STUDY: To study the visual outcome in posterior capsular opacification treated with Nd : YAG Laser Posterior capsulotomy. To analyse the complications following Nd : YAG Laser capsulotomy. METHODS 30 patients having posterior capsular opacification was studied. Before the procedure, visual acquity, IOP and posterior segment were examined. Nd:YAG Laser capsulotomy performed. RESULTS: Visual acquity improved in 96% patients, 2% showed no improvement, Post laser Uveitis was observed in 1 patient which was controlled with steroid eye drops within one week. CONCLUSION: The Nd : YAG Laser is a non-invasive surgical tool that provides excellent posterior capsulotomies with minimal complications. From the above study, it’s clear that Nd:YAG Laser posterior capsulotomy is safe and effective procedure for creating capsular opening compared to invasive surgical procedures. The post operative results are very good and the complication rate is very low.
