Abstract

PURPOSE:To compare the surgical outcomes between 2 groups.
METHODS:A Prospective Interventional study was done at a tertiary eye care hospital in North Coastal Andhra Pradesh for a period of 1 year.Patients with primary pterygium who reported were enrolled for the study.Out of 190,In group A of 95,fibrin glue was used and group B of 95,Autologous blood was used. All patient data were collected and comprehensive evaluation done and post operative results were analysed on post operative day 1,7,30 and 90 and then compared between 2 groups.
RESULTS:According to my study, Graft retraction / displacement was noted in 7.36% in group B and 5.26% in group A,Graft loss was noted in 5.26% group B & 4.21% in group A,Graft edema was noted in 8.42% in group B & 6.31% in group A,Hemorrhage under the graft 31.5% in group A & 27.36% in group B on 3 months follow up.
CONCLUSION:Autologous blood is non-inferior and cost effective to fibrin glue in the treatment of Primary Pterygium Surgery.
