Abstract

PURPOSE: To evaluate the mode of injury, pattern of injury and the time of presentation since injury on treatment outcome in paediatric group presenting to a tertiary care hospital in Rajasthan post COVID 19 Pandemic during the summer of 2023.
METHODS: This is an retrospective observational study carried out on all paediatric trauma presenting to a tertiary care hospital in Rajasthan from 1st March to 30th of June.Data was collected regarding demography,mode of injury,pattern of injury(BETTS classification),time of presentation since injury and visual outcome.
RESULTS and CONCLUSION:26 patients were admitted,comprising of 17 males and 9 females,ranging from 2 to <18 years of age. Mode of injury for all was mechanical,most commonly via wooden stick(57.7%),followed by stationery (15.4%),kitchen knife(7.6%),glass(7.6%),metallic objects(7.6%) and assault(3.8%).All patients had an open globe pattern of injury.Time of presentation since injury did not show much change in visual outcome.
