Abstract
STUDY DESIGN:Observational study
PURPOSE:To report rare case of Viral keratitis mimicking as marginal keratitis with superadded infection.
MATERIALS AND METHODS:50/F came with C/O peripheral corneal lesion LE x3 days.BCVA LE 6/6.On A/S LE on cornea peripheral crescent shaped stromal lesions+,decreased corneal sensation.After starting oral acyclovir,steroids e/d,peripheral lesions started healing.On D3 of Rx,new central lesion 3*3 mm appeared,FS -ve.BCVA 6/60.Density of both peripheral ¢ral lesion decreased over 2 weeks.In next week,response to central lesion was less compared to peripheral lesion,now central lesion,FS+ Corneal scraping +ve for fungus.Steroids stopped,Natamycin E/d used hrly,she responded well with 3 weeks treatment with scarring.
RESULT:The peripheral stromal lesions responded to oral antiviral & steroid e/d,central lesions which had secondary fungal lesion responded well to Antifungals.
CONCLUSION:This case highlights the unusual presentation of HSV keratitis.
