Abstract
Aim: To study clinical profile of lid injuries because of mechanical injuries
Methods: We retrospectively collected demographic, clinical data of all patients who attended emergency department with eyelid trauma between 2010-2022.Demographic and clinical Data collected in pretested format & statistical analyses done using SPSS22.
Results: A total of 150 patients were studied for lid laceration with median age 28 years and median follow up 31 days. 56 (37.3%) were from paediatric age group and 22(14.7%) were toddlers (0-6). Male preponderance 77.3%, 54.7% in RE, while 52.7 % have upper lid, lower lids in 58 % and both lids in 9.3%, Canalicular tear was present in 30%.Most were due to road traffic accident 18% ,Blouse hook responsible in 19% toddlers. 56% underwent primary lid repair 17.4% Canalicular repair.9.9 % had associated intraocular injuries.
Conclusion: Lid injuries are common with mechanical trauma. It is associated with Canalicular,intra ocular and intra orbital injuries.
