Abstract
To study the incidence and management of various ocular manifestations of hypertension.
Methods- A prospective study was done in a tertiary care hospital. Chronic hypertensives and newly diagnosed cases were included in the study. Total of 100 patients were studied of age group 30-80 years and incidence of hypertensive retinopathy , retinal vascular disorders (crvo, brvo, crao,) non arteritic ischaemic optic neuropathy, vitreous haemorrhage, CSR, were noted. A comprehensive ophthalmic examination was done.
Results- 140 out of 100 patients developed ocular morbidity. Out of 140, 90% developed hypertensive retinopathy, 2.14% developed crvo 4.28% brvo, 0 % developed VH, 0.71 % developed NAION, 0% developed CRAO and CSR.
Conclusion- study concluded high incidence of ocular manifestations in uncontrolled hypertensive patients and strict hypertensive control is required to prevent the incidence of ocular manifestations of hypertension.
