Abstract
Study design:Observational(1582 patients).Purpose:To study association of age, gender and season with nuclear sclerosis grade in patients undergoing cataract surgery.Methods:Hospital based retrospective study with 1582 patients undergoing cataract surgery between Feb 2021 and March 2023. Descriptive statistics summarized association of age, gender and season with nuclear sclerosis.Results: Out of 1582, 836 were male and 745 female. Mean age of male and female were 61.77+10.58yrs and 58.59+ 9.97yrs respectively.Mean age of NS I was 54.08+9.51yrs(95%CI 51.38-56.78). NSII was 59.16+10.0yrs(58.26 to 60.06).NSIII was 61.08+9.87yrs(60.32-61.84) and NSIV was 65.03+10.29 yrs(63.61 to 66.46).Mature cataract was 57.06+11.07yrs(55.51 to 58.61).Maximum underwent surgery in NS III grade in all season. Maximum surgery month are March and November.Conclusion:Nuclear sclerosis grade advances with age earlier in females.
