Abstract
Background: The study aimed to evaluate the changes in anterior segment parameters after Phacoemulsification surgery in patients with senile cataract.
Purpose: To study the changes in anterior segment parameters that occur after Phacoemulsification surgery.
Methods: In this prospective study, 30 eyes of 27 patients with senile cataract attending the outpatient department of Ophthalmology were evaluated preoperatively and 3 weeks, 6 weeks and 12 weeks after Phacoemulsification surgery. The changes in anterior segment parameters were evaluated using Anterior Segment Ocular Coherence Tomography (AS-OCT), Ultrasound Biomicroscopy (UBM) and Scheimpflug Camera Topography.
Results: The increase in the Anterior Chamber Depth (ACD) was found to be the major significant change noted in the postoperative period (p <0.001) with all three different instruments (AS-OCT, UBM and Scheimpflug Camera Topography). The changes stabilized after 1 month of surgery.
