Abstract

CASE REPORT Acute corneal hydrops is an uncommon complication of keratoconus which involves sudden-onset of corneal edema due to a rupture in descemets membrane and can cause impaired vision,photophobia and eye pain.In patients with keratoconus, the incidence of acute corneal hydrops is around 0.2 to 2.8%.A 25 yr old female presented with diminution of vision,watering, photophobia ,burning sensation and pain in her right eye since 1month.On Ocular examination: Vision (RE)CF at 2 mts(NAG);(LE)6/6p with +0.5 Dsp 6/6.(RE) Upper eyelid internal hordeolum,mechanical ptosis,papillae.Corneal thinning with inferior protrusion,scarring,microcystic epithelial and stromal edema,fleischers ring,vogts striae.Munson's and rizzuti sign positive.(LE) A/S Normal.Fundus BE Normal.RE oil droplet reflex in Distant DO.Retinoscopy:scissoring reflex+.IOP:RE Error LE 12mmhg.Keratometry:RE Distorted mires LE K1-46.75 K2-46.25.Anterior Segment Central corneal thickness RE centrally 480m edema zone 704m LE 502m.
