Abstract
STUDY DESIGN: Prospective case study.
PURPOSE: To evaluate different prevalence patterns of primary glaucoma's etiology, risk factors, clinical presentation management of primary glaucoma's in adults.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: Sample size 30. All patients who visited ophthalmology OPD are evaluated for primary glaucoma in NRI Institute of medical sciences, Visakhapatnam.
INCLUSION CRITERIA: Adults in the age group from 40 to 80 years. Both male and female were included in the study.
EXCLUSION CRITERIA: Adults less than 40 years and more than 80 years and all secondary glaucoma's are excluded.
RESULTS: 30 subjects were examined. Primary open- angle glaucoma was found in 22 patients and primary angle- closure glaucoma in 8 patients. Prevalence of glaucoma was significantly higher in older people and men.
CONCLUSION: Prevalence of POAG was more than PACG in this study. In this study, higher IOP, older age and history of HTN and DM were significant risk factors for both POAG and PACG.
