Abstract
To study the outcomes of surgical interventions in ectopia lentis. Method: Retrospective case series from August 2009 to June 2021. Result: Thirty-seven eyes of 21 patients were included with a median age at surgery was 10 years. Ten were male patients (47.6%) and 11 (52.4%) were female patients. Pars plana lensectomy was the most common surgical procedure (33, 89.2%), followed by intra lenticular lens aspiration (4, 10.8%) The mean preoperative corrected distant visual acuity of 1.23 ± 0.05 log MAR units improved significantly (P < 0.001) to 0.72 ± 0.07 log MAR units after 1 month of surgery. The number of patients with severe vision impairment reduced from 9 (42.9%) to 4 (19%) and the number of blind patients reduced from 5 (23.8%) to 0 (0.0%). Conclusion: Significant improvement in visual acuity and diminution of vision impairment was seen after surgery in eyes with ectopia lentis
