Abstract
Adenoid cystic carcinoma is a rare malignant tumor with an incidence rate of less than 1% of all head and neck malignancies. Characteristic signs of adenoid cystic carcinoma are slow growth pattern, tendency to local reccurrences, postponed appearance of the distal metastases as well as neural invasion.
We report the case of a 47 year old male came with chief complaints of swelling, pain, redness in right eye since 1 week, the swelling involved right eye lower eyelid and maxillary area. Proptosis and hypertropia of right eye was also noted.CT PNS showed 4.6*4.2cm soft tissue dense lesion noted in the right maxillary sinus superiorly it is extending into the right extraocular space posterolaterally into the posterior maxillary space. s/o neoplastic. Patient was referred to ENT department where DNE was performed and bits of tissue was sent for HPE which confirmed the diagnosis of adenoid cystic carcinoma of right maxillary sinus.
