Abstract
Fundus photography is a laborious task as it involves using 90 diopter (D) lens in one hand and a smartphone attached on eyepiece of a slit-lamp biomicroscope in the other hand or the filming distance is adjusted by moving a 20D lens forward or backward, makes it difficult to adjust and focus the image in a busy eye OPDs.
Avlow-cost innovation for teleophthalmology can be a viable tool in the areas where healthcare assistance remains a challenge, primarily in a set-up like Indian Armed Forces where ophthalmologists are posted to least accessible areas and serving personnel with retinal pathology cannot be moved frequently for retina opinion to higher centers.
Thus, here we have used a novel technique of performing fundus photography with a 20 D lens attached on a universal slit-lamp–mounted mobile adapter made out of trash.
The aim of this DIY-IFIS is to evaluate retinal pathologies and in turn reduce the unnecessary referrals to higher centers for retina specialist.
