Abstract
Blepharoplasty is a surgical procedure in which the eyelid skin, orbicularis oculi muscle and orbital fat are excised or sculpted for definite functional indications and to improve the aesthetics. The purpose of this video is to understand the relevant complex anatomy of the upper eyelid, its relation to the eyebrow and muscles of the peri-ocular region and the key steps in performing blepharoplasty. A comprehensive history and meticulous pre-operative evaluation are quintessential for optimal outcomes. The most important aspect of the surgery is the marking of the skin-muscle excision and formation of eyelid crease and provide appropriate tarsal platform show. The associated brow ptosis can be addressed with trans-bleph browpexy. The video film demonstrates the clinical evaluation and the procedure of upper eyelid blepharoplasty. The challenge of blepharoplasty is to balance patients’ expectations with a good aesthetic and functional outcome.
