Abstract

A 54-year-old man labourer by occupation presented with complaints of foreign body sensation and redness in his right eye for the last 2 years. On examination double headed large pterygium was noticed and he was planned for Pterygium excision with conjunctival autograft.
Under local anaesthesia, the extent of pterygium was marked with gentian violet dye and pterygium was separated from the corneal surface using a sinskey hook. Using a conjunctival scissor pterygium was excised from the corneal surface and bleeding points were cauterised. The corneal surface was smoothened using a crescent blade and diamond burr. The defect was measured using a calliper. Normal saline was injected between the conjunctiva and tenon at the graft site. Conjunctival autograft was harvested from the supratemporal and inferotemporal quadrants using a vannas scissor. Autograft was placed on the defect using fibrin glue.
