Abstract
STUDY DESIGN: Observational study
PURPOSE: To compare the effect of foldable aspheric hydrophilic and hydrophobic acrylic monofocal IOL’s on contrast sensitivity function (CSF) following uneventful phacoemulsification surgery
MATERIALS AND METHODS: Group1(n=25) received hydrophilic PCIOL whereas Group2 (n=25) received hydrophobic PCIOL. All the patients were preoperatively and postoperatively evaluated for UCVA, BCVA, CSF with Pelli Robson chart. Mann Whitney U test was used to analyse data.
RESULTS: Significant improvement in CSF was observed postoperatively in both the groups(p<0.05), whereas no significant difference was seen between two different IOL’s(p>0.05)
CONCLUSION: Hydrophobicity of lens material has no effect on contrast sensitivity function
