Abstract

Corneal foreign bodies are a common ocular hazard, requiring prompt assessment and appropriate management to prevent potential complications. Corneal foreign body typically presents with pain, tearing, redness and blurred vision.
This is an observational, cross-sectional study which includes 96 patients diagnosed with corneal foreign body.
Purpose: To study types of corneal foreign bodies and their correlation with specific occupation.
Methods: Demographic and occupational details of each patient collected, thorough slit lamp evaluation was done, foreign bodies were removed with the help of 26 Gauge needle and forceps.
Results: Metallic foreign body was the most common (52 %) with male preponderance (54 %) working in industrial area (50 %).
Conclusion- Earlier presentation, careful slit-lamp evaluation, proper and adequate management helped in identification and removal of the foreign body in workers preventing complications such as corneal abrasion, infection or scarring.
