Abstract
Purpose: clinical profile and characteristic of Ocular Trauma due to physical assault in tertiary care centre, Jharkhand.Material and Methods:148 cases of all age group with assault related Ocular Trauma over a period of 6 months duration were retrospectively analysed.Patients data, injury details, clinical presentation and person responsible for assault were collected.Detailed Ophthalmic examination like BCVA, External examinations of eyes, anterior and posterior segment were noted.Result:The incidence of Ocular Trauma was highest in the age group of 16-30 years.Out of 148 cases[119 M,29F],close globe injuries was 94 and open globe injuries was 54 in which majority of injury by only blunt mechanical trauma.Conclusion:In assault injury,54 patient have open globe injury in which 45 patients with VA<6/60.Most of them by known(family members and friends and neighbours).80%young adult males are more prone to assault related Ocular injuries.
