Abstract
Mechanism underlying the glaucomatous damage in myopic eyes has been the focus of investigation for a long time.It is difficult to make an accurate assessment of peripap illary RNFL thickness(pRNFLT) especially in the presence of altered optic disc due to structural changes in its size, disc tilt & torsion,& increased axial length(AL) in myopic eyes. METHOD: It is a prospective observational study in 120 moderate myopes (-3D to -6D). The patients were evaluated for:AL, disc size, tilt ratio, torsion and PRNFLT( whole, quadrant wise & clock hour wise).RESULT: Statistically significant inverse correlation of pRNFLT with AL, direct correlation with disc size and weak correlation with torsion, though correlation with Disc tilt was not significant .CONCLUSION:Abnormal OCT diagnostic classification should be interpreted with caution, especially in eyes with long Axial lenght, large fovea to- disc angles, and small optic discs to distinguish glaucomatous changes from false-positive findings.
