Abstract
STUDY DESIGN: Cross sectional analytical study
PURPOSE: To compare pre-operative and post-operative changes in visual outcome, IOP and astigmatism in patients with cataract and glaucoma undergoing Phacoemulsification with trabeculectomy versus Small incision cataract surgery with trabeculectomy
MATERIALS AND METHODS: 40 patients are divided into two groups: Group-1(n=20 underwent Phacoemulsification with trabeculectomy), Group-2 (n=20 underwent small incision cataract surgery with trabeculectomy). All the patients were evaluated preoperatively and postoperatively for UCVA, BCVA, IOP and Astigmatism and compared between two groups and results are analyzed
RESULTS: Significant improvement was observed in BCVA, IOP and Astigmatism postoperatively in both the groups, but no significant difference was seen between two groups
CONCLUSION: Combined procedure showed better visual outcome, better control of IOP and fewer complications in patients with glaucoma and cataract in both the groups.
