Abstract
STUDY DESIGN: Retrospective study
PURPOSE: To highlight importance of ultrasonography in ocular trauma
METHODS: Ultrasonography database was utilised to collect details of 269 ocular trauma cases over a span of 1 year from January to December 2020. Analysis of demographic profile, source and type of injury, time of presentation and findings on B-scan was made.
RESULTS: Normal study was seen in 27.63% cases and retinal detachment in 24.36%. Other findings were vitreous haemorrhage, choroidal detachment, optic nerve avulsion, endophthalmitis, panophthalmitis, intraocular foreign body and phthisis bulbi.
CONCLUSION: Ultrasonography database can be utilized to determine the burden of ocular trauma in society.
