Abstract
Study design: Prospective Observational study(6 months)
Purpose: To evaluate efficacy of 20-20-20 rule to reduce digital eye strain
Method: Questionnaire based study(based on Computer Vision Syndrome Questionnaire) included patients between 16 to 50 years of both sex with eye strain having screen time >4 hours. Followed at 1 and 3 months. Exclusion criteria-any ocular surgery,glaucoma,squint, trauma, OSD.
Result: Females were more compliant than males.51 out of 94 patients practiced the rule and among those 56% showed mild improvement of symptoms. Avg. score who practiced was 7.74 ± 3.73 at presentation and 6.37 ± 2.64 after 3 months
Conclusion: Efficacy of 20/20/20 rule is equivocal. Rule’s clinical impact can be described as marginal. the feasibility of its use is questionable .The Rule at best will offer only brief symptomatic relief.
