Abstract
PURPOSE-To study the spectrum and clinicopathological correlation of eyelid lesions.
METHODS-Prospective study of eyelid lesions was done over a period of 1 year at Tertiary eye care hospital in North costal Andhra Pradesh. Sample size was 100.All the patients attending orbit clinic with eye lid lesions were enrolled. After thorough clinical examination, excision biopsy done and sent for HPE.
RESULTS-Out of 100,89(89%)were benign,11(11%) were malignant. Mean age 43.5±19.9years. The most common benign lesion was Naevus (26%) and malignant was Sebaceous gland carcinoma (4%). Upper eye lid is most involved (55%). Molluscum and Sebaceous gland carcinoma were most misdiagnosed lesions.
CONCLUSION-Benign were more common than malignant eyelid lesions. Atypical and rare presentations may lead to misdiagnosis.
