Abstract

Study design – Retrospective Observational study
Purpose – To look at the demographic features of preterm babies diagnosed with APROP at a tertiary care pediatric hospital (Niloufer Hospital) in Telangana
Methods – Preterm babies screened for ROP and diagnosed with APROP during the period of March 2020 to April 2021 were included in the study. Babies having Staged ROP and immature were excluded. these babies were evaluated for birth weight, gestational age, age at first screening, and age at development of APROP. the management included either intra-vitreal bevacizumab or laser was documented.
Results – 47 babies had APROP during the study tenure, mean birth weight was 1157 gm, and gestational age at birth was 25 to 34 weeks. Age at first examination was 3 weeks post-conceptional. The median age at the development of APROP was 33.5 weeks .38 patients were treated with intravitreal anti-VEGF injections and 7 patients were lasered.
