Abstract

APROP is themost severe form of rapidly developingROP. The study was undertaken to find the risk factors & clinical profile of aprop. Retrospective 1:1 case control study between 1.04.2020 – 30.04.2022 was undertaken where 42 babies with aprop were compared with 42 controls( rop not > zone 2 stage 2) who were matched for gestational age,birth weight.
Results- 22 cases & 8 control had sepsis. Thrombocytopenia was seen in 9 cases & 2 control.11 cases had blood transfusion compared to 3 control.Multiple gestation was noted in 7 cases & 5control.26 of the cases had 0xygen exposure> 5 days compared to 11 from control.13 cases had hyperbilirubinemia compared to 10from control.Neonatal hyperglycemia was seen in 6cases and 5 control.CONCLUSION- study found sepsis,thrombocytopenia,blood transfusion,o2 exposure> 5days significant with p value <0.05.neonatal hyperglycemia,multiple gestation & hyperbilirubinemia were insignificant.
