Abstract
– Retrospective case series of chronic vernal keratoconjunctivitis(VKC) with total limbal limbal stem cell deficiency(LSCD) treated by Allogenic simple limbal epithelial transplantation(Allo-SLET)
– To assess outcomes of Allo-SLET in chronic VKC with total LSCD
– 4 eyes in 3 patients who presented to us in a tertiary eye care centre with total LSCD in chronic VKC were included.History and treatment details were taken.Serial slit lamp photos were taken to assess progression. After pre operative optimization of ocular surface with immunomodulators, lubricants and steroids, Allo- SLET was planned.
– The preoperative BCVA was CF in 3 eyes and HM in 1 eye. After surgery patients received oral immunosuppressants. All eyes maintained good BCVA of 20/500, 20/250, 20/50 and 20/40 over a mean follow up period of 68±15.42 days.1 eye developed rejection after cessation of immunosuppressants.
– Allo-SLET is a good treatment option in case of bilateral total LCSD in stable chronic VKC patients
