Abstract
Study design:Comparative Purpose :To compare the efficacy and safety of Alcaftadine0.25%, Olopatadine hydrochloride 0.2%, and Bepotastine besilate 1.5% ophthalmic solutions in the treatment of allergic conjunctivitis. Method:120patients with mild to moderate allergic conjunctivitis were divided into 3groups of 40 patients each and each group was treated with one of the 3 options- Alcaftadine,Olopatadine and Bepotastine ophthalmic solutions. Patients were followed-up at regular intervals with relief and resolution of symptoms and signs noted using TOSS and hyperemia scale. Results: The resolution of symptoms in the Bepotastine and Alcaftadine groups was better . Bepotastine and Alcaftadine groups reduced allergic conjunctivitis symptoms compared to Olopatadine group.Conclusion: All 3 topical ophthalmic medications used are safe and effective in treating allergic conjunctivitis. But, Bepotastine and Alcaftadine are better in resolving symptoms of allergic conjunctivitis.
