Abstract
Objectives: The objective of this study is to compare the SA and HOAs due to spherical and aspheric IOL.
Methods: This was a prospective and observational study enrolling age-related cataract patients undergoing MICS done. BCVA was recorded on the snellen’s chart and was converted to Log MAR values for analysis. Wavefront aberrometry was performed for every patient before surgery and at final follow-up on the ray tracing aberrometer (iTrace, Tracey Technologies, USA). The RMS value of total ocular HOAs, coma and SA were compared at 1 month after surgery within 2 groups.
Results: there were no statistically differences between eyes in postoperative UCVA and BCVA after a follow up of 1 month. The mean internal SA was 0.010 μm (0.000 to 0.032, SD=0.008) in the aspheric IOL group and 0.026 μm (0.008 to 0.068, SD=0.017) in the spherical group. The total SA was 0.030 μm (0.002 to 0.081, SD=0.019) in aspheric IOL group and 0.043 μm (0.013 to 0.089, SD=0.019) in the spherical group.
