Abstract
Study Design-A cross sectional study of all patients with retinitis pigmentosa in tertiary care hospital in eastern odisha.
Purpose-To examine all patients with Amsler grid on both eyes,scotoma and metamorphopsia.
Method-The type of research is quantitative with an explanatory approach.The sample size is 26 pts over the period of 6 months.
Results-There was arteriolar attenuation,waxy disc pallor,bony spicules pigmentation and pigment deposits on both eyes on fundoscopic examination.Management given was vitamin A and DHA.Counselling was done regarding its progressivity and prognosis.
Conclusion-RP caused irreversible visual and visual field impairment.Low vision management was to optimise the visual function and quality of life.Genetic counselling done for information of the inheritance that could help them to obtain medical information regarding the disease.
